سنة ١٨٠٤ رسم المطران يوحنا الحلو الخوري حنا رزق (المطران يوسف) كاهنًا، وفوّض إليه بأمر البطريرك يوسف التيّان حقوق النيابة وزيارة أبرشية صور وصيدا، فسهر على خيرها ملاحظًا شؤونها متجوّلاً في أنحائها. بعد قرابة الثلاثة أعوام من تعيينه نائبًا عامًا على أبرشية صور وصيدا، وبعد أن عرف حاجتها الى العلم، باشر الأب حنا رزق بإنشاء دير ومدرسة مار يوسف في جزين. عام 1810 توقف الأب حنا عن البناء وعاد الى عين ورقة ليصبح رئيسًا للمدرسة في غسطا. عاد المطران يوسف بعد احداث ١٨٦٠ ليبني الدير والكنيسة. ميزة بناء هذه الكنيسة هي عدم وجود اي عمود في وسطها ، وطراز شبابيكها، ونوع حجارتها والدرج الداخلي في حائطها الشمالي. واستقدم لها اللوحات من روما والمذابح الرخاميّة من المرمر الأبيض. وهي آية في الجمال المعماري. اللوحات من عمل رسام ايطالي انريكو سكيفوني. وهي اليوم وقف الآل رزق. In 1804 Archbishop Youhanna el Helo ordained Hanna Rizk (later bishop Youssef) a priest, and gave him the mission with the blessing of Patriarch Tayyan to oversee as a vicar general the archdiocese of Tyr and Sidon. After three years in his mission, and seeing the urge for a seminary in the diocese, he began the construction of St. Joseph's Seminary in his hometown Jezzin. In 1810 the construction was delayed due to the appointment of Mgr. Rizk as a Rector in the Maronite Grand Patriarcal Seminary in Ain Warqa. Yet after the war in 1860 he resumed his initial project in Jezzin.The church is unique in its architecture: a high cieling with no columns. The white marble altars are beautifully ornate. And the paintings are the work of the Italian Enrico Scifoni. The establishment is now a private chapel owned by the Rizk family.

كنيسة سيّدة الإنتقال - دير

طحنيش بنى الموارنة الكنيسة مع قدومهم إلى البلدة سنة ١٧٠٥، وهي أقدم كنيسة مارونيّة في البقاع الغربيّ. الكنيسة صغيرة كناية عن سوقٍ واحد مسقوفة. سقف الكنيسة بغداديّ. تحوي الكنيسة على لوحةٍ للسيّدة منقولة عن موريللو تعود لأربعينات القرن العشرين. مع بداية القرن الحاليّ رُمّمت الكنيسة ورُسم على السقف لوحات تجريديّة.

The church of Our Lady of Assumption - Deir Tahnish

The maronites built the church in 1705 when they came to the village. It is the oldest maronite church in the West Bekaa region. The structure consists of a small single roofed nave. The church holds a painting copied from Murillo’s Immaculate conception dating back to the forties. The church was renovated in the last decade and the roof was decorated with abstract frescoes.

محبسة مار سمعان العاموديّ - بقرقاشا

هذه المحبسة المبنيّة في حرف شيرٍ صخريّ، تعود للقرون الوسطى. بحسب البطريرك الدويهيّ بنتها سنة ١١١٢ تقلا إبنة الخوري باسيل البشرّاني على إسم مار جرجس ومار ضوميط، وما برحت وتحوّلت على اسم مار سمعان العاموديّ. يشهد على ذلك كتاب الريش قُريان السريانيّ الخاص بالمحبسة، الذي يعود لسنة ١٢٤٢، وهو محفوظ في جامعة السلامانكا.

St Simon the stylite hermitage - Bqorqasha

The hermitage is built on the slope of a rocky cliff in the holy valley of Qannoubin. It dates back according to patriarch Stephen Al Douwaihy to year 1112 when Thekle the daughter of a priest named Basil of Bsharre built a hermitage dedicated to Sts George and Doumith, that was rededicated to St Simon the stylite. A Syriac lectionary proper to the hermitage, the Rish Qoryan, dating back to 1242, that was discovered and conserved in Salamanca’s university, attests this story.

كُرّست الكنيسة سنة ١٨٤٧، وهي بالأصل بقايا معبدٍ رومانيّ. البناء كناية عن عقدٍ سريريّ. وُسّعت سنة ١٩٠٤ ورُمّمت سنة ١٩٨٨. تضمّ أيقونةً أثريّة محليّة للشهيدة بربارة. وبقرب الكنيسة ثلاث آبار لعائلات عمشيت الثلاث التي قدمت أوّلاً إلى البلدة

The church of St Barbra - Amshit

The structure served as a roman temple, it was consecrated in 1847. The church is a crib vault, it was enlarged in 1904 and restored in 1988. The church holds a local icon for the martyr. Near the church are three wells for the three families that came first to Amshyt.
