كاتدرائيّة مار جرجس - صربا

سنة ١٨٦٩ اذ كان المطران يوحنّا الحاج (البطربرك لاحقًا) أسقفًا على بعلبك، وكانت صربا تابعة له، إشترى قطعة أرضٍ من بطريركيّة الروم الملكيّين الكاثوليك. فبنيت الكاتدرائيّة بسعي الخوري بولس الأشقر البجّاني. مع موت البطريرك الحاج سنة ١٨٩٠، ضمّت صربا إلى أبرشيّة دمشق. وسنة ١٩٦٠ فصلت عن دمشق لتصبح منطقة صربا نيابةً بطريركيّةً مركزها هذه الكاتدرائيّة. يتميّز بناء الكاتدرائيّة بتصميمٍ بازيليكيّ بسوقٍ واحدة وثلاث مذابح. اللوحات التي تعلو المذابح من عمل الرسّام داوود القرم وتعود للأوائل القرن العشرين.

St George’s cathedral - Sarba

In 1869 Mgr.John el Hajj (later patriarch) archbishop of Baalbeck, since Sarba was a dependency of Baalbeck back then, bought a parcel of land from the Melkite Catholic patriarchate to build a church. The construction of the new church began with Fr Boulos al Achkar el Bejjany. When Patriarch el Hajj passed away, Sarba was transferred juridically from the see of Baalbeck to the see of Damascus. In 1860 Sarba was proclaimed an independent ecclesiastical province, a patriarchal vicariate with the cathedral at it’s center. The structure is a single nave with three apses, and three altars. The church holds three early XXth century paintings by Daoud el Qorm.

Saint George Church, Byblos, Lebanon

History: 

The church dates back to the Phoenician era with a high vault. The great frensh orientalist Ernest Renan retraced its history with its huge stone pillars. The church had a great Phoenician tympant with two snakes revolving around a globe. The huge stone was taken to the Louvre museum by Renan.
The final stage and most recent construction dates back to 1870 when the church was rededicated by bishop Yousef el Marid.

تعود الى العهد الفينيقي لأنها مبنيّة بعقد قصبة مرتفعة وكانت معبدًا وثنيًّا.
أشار إرنست رينان الى وجود اعمِدة أثريّة استُعملت في مداميك البناء. رُمّمت وزيد عليها مع تعاقب المراحل التاريخيّة.
رينان انتزع عتبة الكنيسة وأرسلها الى متحف اللوفر في باريس، وهي تحمل نقشًا من الرموز التي كانت شائعةً في الدين الفينيقي يمثّل كرةً تلتفُّ حولها حيّاتٌ مجتمعة الأذناب في أعلاها
رُمِّمت هذه الكنيسة عدَّة مرّات، وكُرِّست عام 1870 بيد المطران يوسف المريض. وصورة مار جرجس فيها هي بريشة الرسّام بولس شلافك

كنيسة مار لابا - الميدان جزّين

سنة ١٧٤٢ إنتُخب المطران سمعان عوّاد الحصرونيّ بطريركًا وجعل كرسيّه في بلدة الميدان الجزينيّة. حمل أهل حصرون معهم شفاعة مار لابا أو يهوذا الرسول إلى الميدان وبنوا له مقامًا صغيرًا. سنة ١٩٠٣ بعناية الخوري يعقوب عوّاد، بُنيت الكنيسة الحاليّة، وهي كناية عن عقدٍ مصالبٍ ينتهي بحنيةٍ نصف دائريّة. وجلب مغتربو البلدة لوحة مار لابا من المكسيك سنة ١٩٢١ وهي من عمل سارييا زاكاتيكاس. وسّعت الكنيسة ورمّمت عدّة مرّات في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين.

The church of St Laba - Al Midane Jezzine

In 1742 bishop Semaan Awad was elected patriarch, and made his patriarchal seat in Al Midane. Since he was originally from Hassroun he built a shrine for St Jude the apostle (Laba or Tedy) in the village. In 1903 the current church was built, with the efforts of Fr. Yaqoub Awad. The structure consists of a crossed vault ending with a semi circular apse. The church was renovated many times during the latter half of the XXth century. The painting of St Leba was donated by the village’s diaspora in Mexico in 1921 it is the work of Saria Zakaticas.
