دير مار يعقوب المقطّع - إهدن

بُني الدّير أواخر القرن الثالث عشر بعد حملة المماليك. سنة ١٤٧٠ قطنه القس يعقوب ورفاقه الوافدين من الحبشة فدُعي بدير الأحباش نسبةً إليهم. سنة ١٤٨٨، طرد الإهدنيّون الأحباش واليعاقبة بعد معركة بقوفا، فأصبح الدّير مقرًّا لأساقفة إهدن. سنة ١٦٣٢، سكنه الفرنسيسكان. جعله البطريرك إسطفانوس الدويهيّ مدرسةً لتعليم الأحداث عندما كان كاهنًا. سنة ١٩٧٦ إنهارت الكنيسة إثر عاصفة ثلجيّة. أعيد ترميمها وتكريسها صيف ٢٠٠٤ على يد المطران سمير مظلوم.

Saint Jacob the Persian Monastery - Ehden

Saint Jacob's Monastery was built at the end of the XIIIth century, after the Mamluks' invasion. In 1470, it was inhabited by Abyssinian monks. However, in 1488, the Ehdenites expelled the monks from the monastery after the Battle of Bqoufa. Later on, the monastery became the seat of Ehden's bishops. Then, in 1641, it was inhabited by Franciscan monks. In 1657, Fr. Estfen al Doueihy (later patriarch) turned it into a school for Ehden's youth. During the 18th century, the convent was completely abandoned. In the winter of 1976, a blizzard destroyed the church. Finally, it was restored in 2004 and reconsecrated by Bishop Samir Mazloum.

محبسة مار سمعان العاموديّ - بقرقاشا

هذه المحبسة المبنيّة في حرف شيرٍ صخريّ، تعود للقرون الوسطى. بحسب البطريرك الدويهيّ بنتها سنة ١١١٢ تقلا إبنة الخوري باسيل البشرّاني على إسم مار جرجس ومار ضوميط، وما برحت وتحوّلت على اسم مار سمعان العاموديّ. يشهد على ذلك كتاب الريش قُريان السريانيّ الخاص بالمحبسة، الذي يعود لسنة ١٢٤٢، وهو محفوظ في جامعة السلامانكا.

St Simon the stylite hermitage - Bqorqasha

The hermitage is built on the slope of a rocky cliff in the holy valley of Qannoubin. It dates back according to patriarch Stephen Al Douwaihy to year 1112 when Thekle the daughter of a priest named Basil of Bsharre built a hermitage dedicated to Sts George and Doumith, that was rededicated to St Simon the stylite. A Syriac lectionary proper to the hermitage, the Rish Qoryan, dating back to 1242, that was discovered and conserved in Salamanca’s university, attests this story.

دير سيّدة قنّوبين - قنّوبين

هو من أهمّ وأقدم الأديار الأثريَّة في الوادي المقدّس. كان الكرسيّ البطريركيّ للكنيسة المارونيَّة من القرن الخامس عشر حتَّى القرن التاسع عشر. أعطى اسمه لجزء من وادي قاديشا أي وادي قنّوبين، ومعناه من اليونانيّة الشركة.
بحسب تقليد الكنيسة المارونيَّة، أسَّس هذا الدير تاودوسيوس الكبَّادوكيّ، في القرن السادس. أمَّا تقليد الكنيسة السريانيَّة الأرثوذكسيَّة فيذكر أنَّ الإمبراطور تاودوسيوس الأوَّل، في القرن الرابع، بنى كنيسة سيِّدة قنُّوبين. هذان التقليدان ليسا إلاَّ إثباتًا على قِدَم الدير وأهمِّيَّته بالنسبة إلى تاريخ الكنيسة في لبنان. يذكر التقليد أن القدّيسة مارينا سكنته وماتت ودفنت في المغارة المجاورة. إنتقل إليه البطريرك يوحنّا الجاجيّ على إثر تنكيل والي طرابلس بالموارنة. فأصبح مقرًّا بطريركيًّا.
جداريّات الكنيسة الأساسيّة مرسومة على عدّة مراحل من القرن العاشر وصاعدًا. جداريّات المذابح: الشفاعة، مار يوسف ومار دانيال، وجداريّة تكليل السيّدة هي من عمل الراهب اللبنانيّ بطرس القبرصيّ.

The monastery of our Lady of Qannoubin - Qannoubin

The monastery is one of the most important religious sites for the Maronite church. Two traditions narrate its history both attesting the great history behind it: the Maronite tradition dates it back to the VIth century with Theodosius the Cappadocien. The Syriac tradition dates it back to the IVth century when the Byzantine emperor Theodosius the first built a church dedicated for the Madonna in Qannoubin.
The frescoes of the main church were done layer over layer starting the Xth century up until the XVIth century when Boutros el Qobersy the Lebanese monk painted the three apses frescoes: the Deisis, St Joseph and St Daniel, and the frescoe of the coronation of the Virgin.
