كنيسة سيّدة الغابة - بيت شباب

بنُيت الكنيسة الأولى في القرن السابع عشر، واعتنى بإعادة بنائها آل الحايك مرّتين سنة ١٧٧٢ و١٧٧٣. خُرّبت أثناء حملة إبراهيم باشا فأعاد ترميمها الأمير حيدر أبي اللمع سنة ١٨٤٠. أخذت شكلها الحاليّ سنة ١٩٠٠ ورُمّمت سنة ١٩٩٠. في الكنيسة عدّة لوحات أهمّها اللوحة القديمة التي تعود للقرن السادس عشر، كان قد رسم فوقها كنعان ديب لوحة أخرى لم تعد موجودة سنة ١٨٣٩ وقد جرّحها فارسٌ درزيّ في أحداث ١٨٦٠، وقد نُقلت عنها لوحة لحبيب سرور تعود لسنة ١٩١٩.
The church of Our Lady of the Forest - Beit Chabeb

The church was first built in the XVIIth century, then rebuilt by the Hayek family in 1726 and 1773. It was damaged during the campaign of Mehmet Ali Pasha and restored by Prince Haidar Abi Ll Lamah in 1840. It took its final shape in year 1900, and then restored 90 years later. The church holds many paintings the most important ones being the old XVIth century icon of the Madona, that was covered by another painting by Kanaan Dib drawn in year 1839 that is no longer present. This painting was attacked by a Druze knight in the war of 1860. Habib Srour drew a copy of it in 1919.

يعود بنا هذه الكنيسة إلى القرون الوسطى وتتألف من كنيستين:
الكنيسة القديمة ‏جدرانها مكسوة بالجداريات. هي من النوادر في العمارة الكنيسة لأن فيها حنيتان يتوسطهم رسم المصلوب. مواضيع الجداريات: الشفاعة، العذراء على العرش محاطة بمار بطرس وبولس، ذبيحة النبي ابراهيم، آثار لجدرانيات أخرى باتت مندثرة.
اما الكنيسة الثانية فهي أحدث عهداً ملاصقة للأولى، مبنية على النمط البازيليكي بثلاث اسواق، وامامها رواق بالحجر المعقود.
بقيت الكنيسة مستخدمة الى القرن التاسع عشر حين نزح آخر موارنة البلدة. ومنذ عام ٢٠١٢ انطلق مشروع ترميم الكنيسة.


This church is built in the medieval ages, and is composed of two parts:
The old church has walls filled with frescoes. It is one of the very rare churches in which you can see the crucified drawn between two naves.
The drawings are as follows:
The Deisis, Mary the throne of wisdom, surrounded by Saints Peter and Paul, Abraham's sacrifice, in addition to different frescoes that are damaged and can hardly be seen now.
The second church is just next to the first, but built in a later era, in a basilical form with three aisles.
The church was still in use by the maronite community until the 19th century.
Since 2012 a project to renew the church was launched.

St. Estephan Church, Lehfed, Lebanon

كنيسة مار أسطفان - لحفد

الكنيسة بالأصل كانت معبدًا رومانيًّا على تلّة حوّله الصليبيّون إلى بُرجٍ للمراقبة، سكنه مقدَّموا لحفد. سنة ١٨١٠ تحوّل المكان إلى كنيسةٍ بعقدٍ مُصالبٍ لتكون رعيّة البلدة. مذبح الكنيسة ولوحة مار أسطفان، مُستوردان من إيطاليا بسعي من أبناء البلدة في بيروت أواخر القرن التاسع عشر. حمل إبن لحفد الطوباوي أسطفان نعمه شفاعة صاحب الكنيسة وتكنّى باسمه عند دخوله الرهبانيّة.

The church of St Stephen - Lehfed

The church was originally a pagan roman temple on a hill that was converted into a watch tower by the crusaders, after they left the land the maronite lords of Lehfed used it as residence. In 1810 the crossed vault structure took it’s current shape and was converted into a parochial church. The altar and the painting are imported from Italy with the help of the villagers who lived in Beirut at the end of the XIXth century. Blessed Stephen Nehme, the son of Lehfed, took the name of the Church's patron saint when he entered the monastic life.
