كنيسة السيّدة الرعائيّة - العاقورةبنيت الكنيسة الأولى على أنقاض هيكلٍ رومانيّ كرّس للزهرة، أواسط القرن الخامس عشر، وكانت كنيسةً كبيرة حَوَت مكتبة مخطوطات مهمّة. رُممّت الكنيسة وجُدّدت عدّة مرّات لكنّ الكنيسة القديمة هُدُمت أواسط القرن العشرين لتبنى الكنيسة الحاليّة الأكبر. تحوي الكنيسة على بيت قربان رخاميّ من أثر الكنيسة القديمة، كذلك العديد من اللوحات المحليّة العائدة للقرنين السابع والثامن عشر.The Parish church of Our Lady - AqouraThe church was built over a roman temple dedicated to Venus, in the mid XVth century. The church had a rich manuscript library. It was restored many times, yet the old church was destroyed in the mid XXth century to make space for the new bigger church. The church holds the marble tabernacle of the old one and a collection of locally made paintings dating back to the XVIIth and XVIIIth century.

دير مار يعقوب المقطّع - إهدن

بُني الدّير أواخر القرن الثالث عشر بعد حملة المماليك. سنة ١٤٧٠ قطنه القس يعقوب ورفاقه الوافدين من الحبشة فدُعي بدير الأحباش نسبةً إليهم. سنة ١٤٨٨، طرد الإهدنيّون الأحباش واليعاقبة بعد معركة بقوفا، فأصبح الدّير مقرًّا لأساقفة إهدن. سنة ١٦٣٢، سكنه الفرنسيسكان. جعله البطريرك إسطفانوس الدويهيّ مدرسةً لتعليم الأحداث عندما كان كاهنًا. سنة ١٩٧٦ إنهارت الكنيسة إثر عاصفة ثلجيّة. أعيد ترميمها وتكريسها صيف ٢٠٠٤ على يد المطران سمير مظلوم.

Saint Jacob the Persian Monastery - Ehden

Saint Jacob's Monastery was built at the end of the XIIIth century, after the Mamluks' invasion. In 1470, it was inhabited by Abyssinian monks. However, in 1488, the Ehdenites expelled the monks from the monastery after the Battle of Bqoufa. Later on, the monastery became the seat of Ehden's bishops. Then, in 1641, it was inhabited by Franciscan monks. In 1657, Fr. Estfen al Doueihy (later patriarch) turned it into a school for Ehden's youth. During the 18th century, the convent was completely abandoned. In the winter of 1976, a blizzard destroyed the church. Finally, it was restored in 2004 and reconsecrated by Bishop Samir Mazloum.

دير مار ادنا - العاقورة

ادنا هو لقب سريانيّ لمار طراخونيوس، وهو من القدّيسين الأكثر شهرة عند موارنة القرون الوسطى. بني هذا الدّير سنة ٥٠٩ على أنقاضٍ رومانيّة ما زالت ماثلة، ويتألّف من كنيسة بخوروسين ما يزال القسم الجنوبيّ منها ماثل. بقيّة الدّير ودير البنات أي دير الراهبات العابدات الذي بقربه أنقاض. قنطرة الحنية مزيّنة بالعديد من الصلبان والنقوش التي ترمز للتجسد والفداء. كان الدّير مقرًّا لأساقفة العاقورة مدى قرون ومن أشهرهم البطريرك يوحنا السابع العاقوري الذي توفي سنة ١٣٥٧.

The monastery of St Edna - Aqoura

Edna is a title given by syriacs to St Trakhonius, who was one of the most venerated saints by the medieval Maronites. The monastery was built in 509 over roman ruins that are still visible, and it consists of a two aped church, with the southern part of the church still standing. The rest of the church and monastery and the adjacent nunnery are all in ruins. The apse is decorated with crosses and symbols of the Incarnation and Redemption. The monastery was the seat of Aqoura’s bishops for centuries, the most famous of them was patriarch John VII El Aqoury who died in 1357.
