كنيسة مار زخيا القديمة - عجلتون بُنيت الكنيسة الأولى سنة ١٦٧٢، وكرّسها البطريرك إسطفان الدويهيّ. سنة ١٨٢٨ كانت الكنيسة أصبحت ضيّقة، فأُخذت جحارتها، بالإضافة إلى حجارة كنيسةٍ قديمةٍ مهجورةٍ على اسم مار عبدا، كانت تخصّ آل الشمالي قبل نزوحهم إلى بلدة سهيلة. كان البناء بسعي الخوري نقولا صفير. الكنيسة كناية عن عقدٍ مُصالب ينتهي بحنية. تضمّ أربعة مذابح: مار زخيا، السيّدة، القلب الأقدس، مار يوسف. الكنيسة تحافظ على طابعها الأصليّ بنقوشها وزخرفتها الملوّنة والأشكال الهندسيّة على الجدران والأسقف. The church of St Zakhia (St Nicolas) - Ajaltoun The first church was built in 1672, and dedicated by Patriarch Estefan el Douwaihy. In 1828 the church became too small for the increasing number of villagers. With the help of Fr Nkoula Sfeir, two old churches were dismantled: the old St Zakhia and an old ruined chapel dedicated to St Abda that belonged to the Chemaly family that moved to Shaileh. The stones were used to build the new church. The structure is a crossed vault, with four altars: St Zakhia, the Madonna, the Sacred Heart, and St Joseph. The church still conserves its original decorum with colored floral motifs and arabesques.

محبسة مار بطرس وبولس - عنّايا

بُنيت المحبسة سنة ١٧٩٨، على يد الراهبان يوسف أبي رميا وداود بن موسى عيسى خليفة من إهمج، اللذان بنيا معبدًا صغيرًا، على أنقاض معبد قديم، وأطلقوا عليه إسم دير التجلّي، وستّة قلالي للسكن. عام ١٨١٤، إنضمّ هذان الراهبان إلى الرهبانيّة اللبنانيّة المارونيّة، فتسلّمت الرهبانيّة المحبسة على عهد الرئيس العام اغناطيوس بليبل، وتحوّلت كنيستها بأمر البطريرك يوحنا الحلو إلى إسم القديسين بطرس وبولس. من أشهر حبسائها: الأب أليشاع كسّاب الحرديني شقيق القديس نعمةالله، والأب الأب شربل مخلوف أي القديس شربل. تحوّلت المحبسة إلى مزار، يزوره المؤمنون للصلاة وطلب شفاعة القدّيس شربل.

The Hermitage of Sts Peter and Paul - Annaya

The hermitage was built in 1798 by two monks from Ehmej: Youssef Abi Ramia and Dawood Bin Moussa Issa. It consisted of six cells and a chapel dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord. In 1814 both monks joined the Lebanese Maronite Order. The hermitage was transferred to the Order during the days of Abbot Ignatius Bleibel and by order of Patriarch Youhanna el Helou was rededicated to Sts Peter and Paul. The most famous hermits who resided in the hermitage are Fr Elishaa Kassab, the brother of St Nematullah and St Charbel Makhlouf. Today the hermitage is a shrine and a pilgrimage site to those asking for St Charbel’s intercession.

بُنيت الكنيسة سنة ١٧٥٥ في عهد البطريرك يعقوب عوّاد وكرّسها المطران سمعان عوّاد اسقف صيدا. هي اولى الكنائس المارونيّة التي بنيت في منطقة شرقيّ صيدا وساحل جزّين. تتميّز بهندستها البسيطة وبالنقوش على أعتاب أبوابها المنخفضة. خُرّبت إبّان الحرب الأهليّة وأعيد ترميمها في تسعينات القرن العشرين.

The church was built in 1755 during the pontificate of Patriarch Jacob Awad and was consecrated by Sidon’s bishop Simon Awad. It is the first maronite church in the vicinity of Sidon. The architecture is simple and doted with symbolic arabesque over the small narrow doors. During the civil war it was heavily damaged and restored during the nineties.

محبسة مار سمعان العاموديّ - بقرقاشا

هذه المحبسة المبنيّة في حرف شيرٍ صخريّ، تعود للقرون الوسطى. بحسب البطريرك الدويهيّ بنتها سنة ١١١٢ تقلا إبنة الخوري باسيل البشرّاني على إسم مار جرجس ومار ضوميط، وما برحت وتحوّلت على اسم مار سمعان العاموديّ. يشهد على ذلك كتاب الريش قُريان السريانيّ الخاص بالمحبسة، الذي يعود لسنة ١٢٤٢، وهو محفوظ في جامعة السلامانكا.

St Simon the stylite hermitage - Bqorqasha

The hermitage is built on the slope of a rocky cliff in the holy valley of Qannoubin. It dates back according to patriarch Stephen Al Douwaihy to year 1112 when Thekle the daughter of a priest named Basil of Bsharre built a hermitage dedicated to Sts George and Doumith, that was rededicated to St Simon the stylite. A Syriac lectionary proper to the hermitage, the Rish Qoryan, dating back to 1242, that was discovered and conserved in Salamanca’s university, attests this story.
