بنيت الكنيسة سنة ١٦٠٧ عندما نزح الخوري تادي وأولاده من بلاد الرها الى قرطبا ووهبهم الأرض لبنائها مشايخ آل حمادة. الكنيسة هي الوحيدة في لبنان على إسم مار تادي أي تدّاوس رسول آسية الصغرى وهو المعروف بمار لابا في سائر كنائس لبنان. أعيد بناء الكنيسة سنة ١٨٦٨. اللوحة الأساسيّة تعود لسنة ١٨٨٠ من عمل الرسّام داود القرم رُمّمت سنة ٢٠٠٤ وتُمثّل مار تادي بهيئة أسقف. وفي الكنيسة لوحة ثانية لمار شلّيطا من عمل الرسّام البولوني بولس شلافاك.‏The church was built in 1607 when the family of the priest Tedy came to Qartaba from Urfa. It was built upon a parcel of land that was donated by the Hamade sheikhs. It is the only church in Lebanon dedicated to St Tedy or Jude the apostle of Asia Minor. The other churches in Lebanon are usually dedicated to him under the name of apostle Leba. The church was rebuilt in 1868. The painting is the work of Dawoud Al Qorm dating back to year 1880 representing St Tedy as a bishop. It was restored in 2004. The church holds another painting by the polish painter Paul Shlavak and represents St Shalita (Artemius of Antioch) on his horse.

دير مار بطرس وبولس - عشقوت

بنى البطريرك بولس مسعد الدّير في النصف الثاني من القرن التاسع عشر، وجعله مركزًا بطريركيًّا له إبّان حبريته. استقدم للكنيسة تمثالين رخاميّين والأواني من روما، مع مجموعة من اللوحات الصغيرة. أمّا اللوحة الكبيرة فوق المذبح وسط الكنيسة، فهي من عمل داود القرم. بعد وفاته، دُفن البطريرك في الكنيسة، وأوقف الدّير لعائلة مسعد. تحوّل في فترةٍ من الزمن إلى مدرسة، والآن يخوض عمليّة ترميم لإبراز قيمته التاريخيّة.

The monastery of Sts Peter and Paul - Ashkout

The monastery was built in the second part of the XIXth century by patriarch Boulos Massaad, and he resided in it during his pontificate. The patriarch acquired for the church two roman marble statues of Sts Peter and Paul, and many paintings. The great painting over the high altar is by Dawoud El Qorm. After the death of the patriarch the monastery became in the possession of the Masaad family, it was converted into a school for a while and now it is undergoing a restoration plan to bring out the historical value of the place.

دير مار أبون - وادي قاديشا

هو دير مار يوحنّا القصير الملقب بأبون أحد آباء الصحراء. يتكوّن الدّير من كنيسةٍ وعدّة قلالي. تقع الكنيسة داخل مغارة وهي على نسق البازيليك في البناء، والأكبر بين كنائس الوادي. أوّل ذكر للدّير يعود إلى القرن الثاني عشر، عندما أفاد البطريرك اسطفان الدويهيّ أن "هذا الدير كان مديرًا لجميع النساك في منطقة بشراي" . جعله البطريرك يعقوب الحدثي مقرًّا له سنة ١٤٤٥. بقي الدّير مأهولاً للقرن السابع عشر، وهو اليوم ضمن ورشة ترميم لإصلاحه وتجديده.

The monastery of St Aboun - The Valley of Qannoubine

The monastery is dedicated to St John the short an Egyptian desert father known to the syriacs as Aboun. The monastery consists of a basilical cave church, the largest one in the holy valley, and some adjacent cells. The first mention of the monastery is from the XIIth century when it was the head of all the monasteries and hermitages in the region of Bsharre according to Patriarch Estefan el Douaihy. In 1445 the monastery became the patriarchal residence of Patriarch Yaaqoub el Hadathi. The monastery fell into ruins at the end of the XVIIth century, today a plan for it’s restoration is undergoing.

محبسة مار سمعان العاموديّ - بقرقاشا

هذه المحبسة المبنيّة في حرف شيرٍ صخريّ، تعود للقرون الوسطى. بحسب البطريرك الدويهيّ بنتها سنة ١١١٢ تقلا إبنة الخوري باسيل البشرّاني على إسم مار جرجس ومار ضوميط، وما برحت وتحوّلت على اسم مار سمعان العاموديّ. يشهد على ذلك كتاب الريش قُريان السريانيّ الخاص بالمحبسة، الذي يعود لسنة ١٢٤٢، وهو محفوظ في جامعة السلامانكا.

St Simon the stylite hermitage - Bqorqasha

The hermitage is built on the slope of a rocky cliff in the holy valley of Qannoubin. It dates back according to patriarch Stephen Al Douwaihy to year 1112 when Thekle the daughter of a priest named Basil of Bsharre built a hermitage dedicated to Sts George and Doumith, that was rededicated to St Simon the stylite. A Syriac lectionary proper to the hermitage, the Rish Qoryan, dating back to 1242, that was discovered and conserved in Salamanca’s university, attests this story.
