بُنيت الكنيسة سنة ١٨١٢ وكرّسها المطران الياس محاسب سنة ١٨٤١. بُنيت القبّة بسعي المغتربين سنة ١٩١٠. لوحة العذراء التي تعلو المذبح منقولة عن مادونا سيستينا لرافايل. في الكنيسة العديد من الأيقونات والسقف مكسو بالجداريات من عمل أ. روكز سنة ٢٠١٢.

The church was built in 1812, and consecrated by Bishop Elias Mhaseb in 1841. The Campanile was built in 1910 with the donations of the village’s diaspora. The painting of the Madona over the high altar is a copy of the Madona Sistina of Raphael. The church is rich in icons, and the vault is covered in frescoes painted by I. Roukos in 2012.

كاتدرائيّة مار الياس المارونيّة صيدا
بناها المطران أغوسطينوس البستاني على إسم شفيع المدينة مار الياس الحيّ، لتكون كرسيًّا رسميًّا له في المتروبوليّة. وكان ذلك سنة ١٩٣٨. يَذكر الكتاب المقدّس أنّ مار الباس مرّ في صيدا وهي جزء من الأراضي المقدّسة وعلى اسمه أربع كنائس مارونيّة في المدينة. الكنيسة مبنيّة على النمط البازيليكيّ، لوحة الحنية من رسم الفنان اسعد رنّو. تعرّضت للحرق ابان الحرب الأهليّة سنة ١٩٨١. وأُعيد ترميمها مؤخّرًا سنة ٢٠١٧. من أبرز ما تحويه ذخيرة عود الصليب التي حملها مطران صيدا مار انطونيوس خريش (البطريرك لاحقًا) على إثر المجمع الفاتيكاني الثاني.

St Elijah’s Maronite Cathedral Sidon.
It was built during the mandate of archbishop Augustin El Boustany, and was dedicated to Elijah the prophet patron saint of the city, to become the bishop's official new cathedral in the metropolitan city. It was built in 1838 in a basilical plan. The Old Testament states the visit of the prophet to the city. That explains the presence of four churches dedicatd to him in the city. The main painting in the apse is the work of the Lebanese painter Assaad Renno.
The cathedral was burnt down during the civil war in 1981, and finally restored in 2017. Its most prized treasure is the Holy Cross relic brought back from the Second Vatican Council by Archbishop Antonios Khoraish (Later Maronite Patriarch).

Maronite Patriarchal Seminary - Ghazir, Ghazir, Lebanon

الإكليريكيّة البطريركيّة المارونيّة - غزير

بنى أمراء آل شهاب قصرًا لهم في غزير مع بداية القرن التاسع عشر ما لبث أن باعه الأمير عبدالله شهاب للآباء اليسوعيّين سنة ١٨٤٣ لتأسيس مدرسة إكليريكيّة. سنة ١٨٨١ بنيت كنيسة مار يوسف الكبيرة. سنة ١٩١٤ طرد العثمانيّون الرهبان من الدّير، ليعودوا بعد الحرب ويؤسسوا ميتمًا في رحابه. سنة ١٩٣٤ أصبح الدّير إكليريكيّة بإدارة اليسوعيّين. اشترى الدّير أخيرًا البطريرك أنطونيوس خريش سنة ١٩٧٦، ليصبح شرعًا مبنى الإكليريكيّة البطريركيّة المارونيّة. عدّل بناء الدّير عدّة مرّات وأضيف عليه عدّة مبانٍ على مراحل. يحوي العديد من الأجنحة ويحوي إضافةً لكنيسته الكبرى اربعة كنائس: مار مارون شفيع الإكليريكيّة، البشارة، مار شربل، والقدّيسة رفقا التي خدمت في الدّير ردحًا من الزمن.

The Maronite Patriarchal Seminary - Ghazir

In the early XIXth century the Chehaby princes of Ghazir built a palace that prince Abdallah Chehab sold to the Jesuits in 1843, to build a seminary. In 1881 the grand church was built and dedicated to St Joseph. In 1914 the Ottomans occupied the seminary, it was reopened at the end of the war as a foster home. In 1934 the Jesuits reopened the seminary. In 1976 Patriarch Khoreiche bought the building from the Jesuits to house the Maronite Patriarchal Seminary. The building was renovated and repurposed many times. It holds many wings, the church of St Joseph, and four other chapels: St Maroun the patron of the seminary, St Charbel, The Annunciation, St Rafqa who served as a nun in Ghazir during her lifetime.
