كرسيّ سيّدة الخلاص - بيت الدّينبنى الأمير بشير الثاني قصرًا عائليًّا خاصًّا سنة ١٨٢٨ على رابيةٍ فوق بيت الدّين. سنة ١٨٦١ أهدى الإمبراطور نابوليون الثالث رتاجًا كبيرًا لمدخل القصر. سنة ١٨٦٣ إشترى المطران بطرس البستاني القصر من الأميرة حسن جهان وحوّله إلى كرسيّ أسقفيّ لأبرشيّة صيدا، على اسم مار شليطا الذي له كنيسة صغيرة داخل المبنى. سنة ١٩٢٧ بنى المطران أغوسطينوس البستاني كنيسة سيّدة الخلاص بنمط عصر النهضة بما تضمّ من زجاجيّات ومذابح ولوحات. تعرّض البناء للضرر خلال الحرب العالميّة الثانية وحرب الجبل. رمّم وشهد مصالحة الجبل سنة ٢٠٠٠ مع البطريرك نصرالله صفير الذي أخذ من الكرسيّ مقرًّا له.The episcopal seat of our Lady of Deliverance - Beit el DinIn 1828 Prince Bachir II Chehab built a private palace on the outskirts of Beit el Din. Empror Napoleon III gave the palace a grand entry gate. In 1863 princess Hesn Jihan sold the palace to Archbishop Boutros el Boustany who made it the episcopal seat of the eparchy of Sidon, dedicated to St Chalita (Artemius) who had a small chapel inside the building. In 1927 Archbishop Augustin el Boustany built the church of Our Lady of Deliverance in a renaissance style. The building was damaged in World War II and the Lebanese civil war. The structure was restored and saw the pact of reconciliation in the year 2000 with Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir.

دير مار يعقوب وكنيسة مار أنطونيوس البادوانيّ – كرم سدّه

الدير كان قديمًا هيكلًا وثنيًّا رومانيًّا. تاريخ البناء الأوّل مجهول. سكنه اليعاقبة وتركوه في القرن الخامس عشر فأصبح خرابًا. جدّده عام ١٨٣٧ المطران بولس موسى رئيس أساقفة طرابلس لجعله كرسيًّا أسقفيًّا ومدرسة إكليركيّة لـمار أنطونيوس البادوانيّ، الذي على اسمه شُيّدت الكنيسة. عام ١٨٨٤ شيّد المطران إسطفان عواد الجهة الشرقية وجدّد عام ١٨٧٩ الإكليركيّة. عام ١٩١٢ وسّعه المطران أنطون عريضة، لكنّ الإكليريكيّة أغلقت أبوابها مع الحرب العالميّة الأولى إلى أن عادت لتفتح أبوابها سنة ١٩١٩. زارها عام ١٩٢٠ المفوّض السامي الفرنسي الجنرال غورو . شيّد المطران أنطون عبد عام ١٩٦٠ قسمًا جديدًا من الدير، وعام ١٩٩٦ بُني البناء الجديد. ضمّ هذا البناء سنة ١٩٩٨ كليّة العلوم اللاهوتية والدراسات الرعائية في الجامعة الأنطونيّة، بسعي المطران يوحنّا فؤاد الحاج.

Saint Jacob Monastery and Saint Anthony Padua Church - Karm Saddeh

The monastery was originally an ancient Roman pagan structure. The exact date of its initial construction is unknown. It was inhabited by the Jacobites and abandoned in the 15th century, falling into ruins. It was renovated in 1837 by Archbishop Paul Moussa, the head of the Archdiocese of Tripoli, to serve as an episcopal see and a seminary for Saint Anthony Padua, after whom the church was named. In 1884, Archbishop Estephan Awwad constructed the eastern side and renovated the seminary in 1879. In 1912, Archbishop Antoine Arida expanded it further, but the seminary closed its doors during World War I and reopened in 1919. It was visited by the French High Commissioner General Gouraud in 1920. Archbishop Antoine Abed built a new section of the monastery in 1960, and in 1996, a new building was constructed, which included the Faculty of Theology and Pastoral Studies at Antonine University, under the guidance of Archbishop Youhanna Fouad El-Hage.

هو دير قديم يعود لأوائل القرون الوسطى، لم يبقَ منه سوى الكنيسة. الكنيسة مبنيّة بعقدٍ سريريّ وحنيتين بمذبحين، على اسم السيّدة ومار سابا. على الجدران ماثلة بقايا جداريّات. إستُخدم الدّير كمركزٍ أسقفيّ في حبريّة البطريرك يوحنّا اللحفديّ. رُمّم أخيرًا سنة ٢٠١٠ بمناسبة تطويب الأخ اسطفان نعمه.

The monastery of St Sabas the hermit - Lehfed

An ancient ruined monastery that dates back to the high middle ages, with a church still standing. The church is a crib vault structure with a double apse and two altars dedicated respectively to the Madonna and St Sabas. Some traces of the frescoes can be noticed on the walls. The church was an episcopal residence during the pontificate of Patriarch John of Lehfed. The church was restored in 2010 with the canonisation of Blessed Estfan Nehme.

The convent’s ancient origin is attached to a legend. A rich man of the region committed adultery; filled with remorse, he attached a padlocked iron chain to his ankle and threw the key into the sea-shore and survived on the fish brought to him by local fishermen, who called him the guardian of the cavern. One day, a fisherman brought him a fish, in whose entrails the hermit found the key of the padlock. He knew then that God had delivered him from his suffering, and he built a convent above the cavern. He dedicated it to The Mother of God, but it also took the name of the Guardian.

The daily life of the convent is regulated by the flow of visitors who come to fulfill vows and make prayers. Sister Catherine al-Jamal is the principal resident of Dayr al-Natour, and she has done everything within her power to restore it.

According to the Crusader document, the Monastery of the Presentation of Our Lady Natour was built by Cistercians. Indeed, the Church interior resembles that of the Cistercian Church of Balamand, built in 1157. Otherwise, the history of Dayr al-Natour is hidden in obscurity, although it is said that the local Orthodox community took it over after the departure of the Crusaders. Its name is almost unmentioned by historical sources during the Mamluk and most of the Ottoman period, although it is reported that French corsairs attacked the Monastery at the beginning of the eighteenth century and killed a monk.

In 1838, the Ottoman authorities gave permission to the Monastery to be rebuilt. In the second half of the nineteenth century, it contained several monks and a superior, and it possessed fifteen dunums of land. During the First World War, it was bombarded by a Russian ship. A few years later, the Monastery lost its last Superior, Basilios Debs, who became Archbishop of Akkar. After his departure, monastic life ended at Dayr al-Natour.

During the twentieth century, the deserted monastery became a refuge for shepherds from the neighboring regions. In 1973, Sister Catherine al-Jamal moved to Dayr al-Natour and began to restore it from its ruin.
